Colorado's Mineral Resources
Colorado's mining activity can be tracked through the
Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety. They maintain the
DRMS Mapping Application showing, among other things, active and permitted mines.
The USGS hosts the
Mineral Resources Data System (MRDS). MRDS describes metallic and nonmetallic mineral resources throughout the world. Included are deposit name, location, commodity, deposit description, geologic characteristics, production, reserves, resources, and references. It includes the original MRDS and MAS/MILS data.
The map below shows the location of various mineral resources in Colorado extracted from the USGS MRDS.
